For students admitted to UM in Academic Year 2017/2018 and after

Students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree could be admitted to the Honours Programme through three different ways:

Direct

Admission

Incoming first-year students (students admitted to UM in academic year 2018/2019) who are offered any of the following scholarship awards:

  • UM Grand Lotus Scholarship
  • UM Golden Lotus Scholarship
  • UM Scholarship for Mainland China Undergraduate Students
  • UM Full Scholarships for Students from East Asia Countries
Incoming first-year students who are admitted to any of the Bachelor’s degree programmes of UM and are offered with the scholarship listed in the previous box will be eligible for direct admission. Students have to return the “Statement of Acceptance to the Honours College”  according to the announced deadline by the university Registry.

Application

Currently UM year one students (students admitted to UM in academic year 2017/2018) and fulfill the following requirement could be admitted through open application:

  • A minimum 3.30 cumulative GPA (Scale 15 for Faculty of Law) is required at the time of application and admission
Qualified students could submit application though the online application system with the following document:-

  1. Comprehensive personal Curriculum Vitae
  2. Personal statement addressing your reason in pursuing the Honours Programme and your leadership potential [300 word limit written in English]
  3. Diplomas/certificates of participation in extra-curricular activities and community service [Optional]
  4. Certificates/records of honours & awards obtained [Optional]

Applicants will be assessed based on their academic and extracurricular documents submitted with the application, and by interview if needed.

Recommended Admission
Currently UM year one students (students admitted to UM in academic year 2017/2018) who have demonstrated strong leadership potential, stronger participation in services and/or special talents in areas such as arts, sports, language, music, literature can be admitted by recommendation of Masters of RCs and Dean of Students.

  • A minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA (Scale 14 for Faculty of Law) is required at the time of recommendation and admission
Each RC Master and the Dean of Students could recommend 2 students per year into the honours programme. Interested students may pay attention to the application announcement of SAO or your corresponding RC.

Recommended students will receive notification from the HC General Office to submit the following document:-

  1. Comprehensive personal Curriculum Vitae
  2. Personal statement addressing your reason in pursuing the Honours Programme and your leadership potential [300 word limit written in English]

*Students who applied through recommended admission channel is not permitted to apply through open application at the same academic year.
