As students of the Honours College are recruited from various faculties, in order to help them to form a cohort learning community so that they would come together as “colleagues” to form a cooperative and collaborative environment, two retreats are organized for each class of students in their first year at the college. The first one is held when the students are accepted to the college while the second is in their second semester at the college. The first one is called “Group Identity Building Retreat”. It is a retreat aiming to create a friendly environment to facilitate students’ self-awareness of personal style, explore their leadership potential and develop their HC membership identity through a series of tailor-made team building and group learning activities. The second one is called “Team Building Retreat”. It is a retreat aiming to advance the spirit of cooperation, which help to enhance student’s unity and uplift their confidence and their ability to overcome obstacles through a series of team building games.
